Grant Heus is an interdisciplinary artist from Milwaukee, WI, with a BA in Sound Design from Columbia College Chicago. Growing up with parents who are educators fostered a deep curiosity about the systems and structures that shape the world. Paired with an early fascination in digital creation, his work combines technical proficiency with creative innovation.
His artistic practice spans sound design, photography, videography, poetry, and coding—distinct mediums that intertwine creativity and structure to explore new perspectives. For Grant, art, science, and human purpose share a common mission: to see the world anew and communicate its complexities. Each medium is a vessel for unique storytelling, and all mediums share unexpected parallels, such as the shared reliance on syntax in both coding and poetry to express individuality. In exploring a wide range of practices, Grant reveals how creativity and logic work together to deepen our perception of the world around us.
Grant’s dedication to interdisciplinary exploration also informs his career, where he merges his artistic sensibilities with professional pursuits. He views his work as an opportunity to continue learning and refining his skills, allowing his creative and technical passions to grow together.
Currently, Grant’s focus is on the intersections of technology and sustainability within the context of sound. Core elements of his work involve reducing e-waste and reimagining the technological lifecycle, prioritizing sustainable approaches to creating impactful art.
